Tetra Materials' experimental investigation of the comparison between crystalline and non-crystalline (or amorphous) alloys, based on hafnium, has been published by the ASME, in their Journal of Tribology. The paper is available here. We have shown that the metallic glass is harder and more wear resistant than a conventional crystalline alloy of similar composition which was fabricated under identical conditions. The metallic glass also shows high thermal stability under sliding wear conditions.
